Mr. Crappie’s, “Dirty Dozen” Hook Tips 1. Mr. Crappie Hooks are designed to turn towards pressure and catch the Crappie in the upper portion of his mouth for a great hook up.
2. Mr. Crappie, Code Red Hooks make your bait appear injured and trigger a feeding response
3. For Shallow water Crappie fishing I prefer to use a 1 or 1/0 sized hook. The larger hook is perfect for battling Crappie in heavy brush.

4. Mr. Crappie Hooks are great for double-rigging; one on top of the other for dipping tree stumps and vertical structures like bridge columns. My snelled hooks make this easy. Just pass the hook through the loop above your swivel / leader, pull tight.
5. Tight-Line trolling live bait is an effective way to take more Crappie. Again, the double rig allows a presentation at slightly different depths.
6. When selecting a hook for Crappie fishing I tend to use a larger size for shallow water and a smaller size in deeper waters like a size #2.
7. Sometimes in really clear waters; I’ll go with the Mr. Crappie in the 22 KT. Gold plated hooks.
8. My smaller sizes like #6 and 8 are perfect for Bluegill, Sunfish and those bait thieving Shellcracker.
9. My blue/black hook is specially tempered to be straightened out when hung up. It can be re-bent and fished again, several times.
10. Don't tell anyone but I’ve actually caught Crappie on my Code Red hook; without any bait! Not once but twice.
11. As the Code Red finish wears, it creates contrast and actually catches more fish than new hooks.
12. Despite the rumors you’ve heard; it’s not against the law to catch Walleye on my hooks. Just don’t try to weigh them in at a Crappiemasters Tournament.
Hey man, good fishing! |
